ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman Maroof Afzal said on Tuesday that all ongoing developmental projects would be completed by the agency on schedule, so new projects may begin next year.

He was chairing a meeting held to review progress of ongoing development projects.

“Allocated funds would be utilised in the current fiscal year to meet development targets so that the current year is remembered as a year of development,” the chairman said.

Participants of the meeting were informed that development of Park Enclave is in progress and 35 out of 44 roads are being constructed. Two underground water tanks have also been completed while construction work for overhead water tanks and two tube wells is nearly complete.

The CDA chairman was informed that development activities have begun in Sector I-12.

The contract for construction of seven major roads has been awarded and the contractor has moved the required heavy machinery to the site.

The cost for construction of these roads would be around Rs240 million.

The chairman was told that the pre-qualification for development of low income residential sector I-15 is also in progress and development activity is likely to begin soon.

Participants also told the chairman that CDA is taking possession of land in Sector E-12 and Kuri Model Village in a peaceful manner while disputes are being resolved through dialogue with locals. Heavy machinery of Machinery Pool Organization (MPO) Directorate has been mobilised for work in the area.

The meeting reviewed progress on under construction parking plazas.

Participants were informed that work on one of the plazas is in its final stages while progress is being made on the second one.

The meeting also discussed the construction of proposed flyover on 7th Avenue and underpasses on Faisal Avenue.
