KARACHI: The Pakistan sailing teams performed brilliantly at the Qatar International Sailing Regatta ‘Sail the Gulf’ 2015 held from Feb 3-7 in Doha, said a news release by Pakistan Navy issued on Tuesday.

A total of eight races were conducted at the Regatta with participation of teams from all leading nations. The sailing teams comprising Pakistan Navy personnel competed in three different categories of the event — 470 Class, Laser Radial Class and Laser Standard Class.

Cdr Muhammad Akram Tariq and Petty Officer Khalid Hussain won the 470 class, showing their tactical domination by leaving Indian sailors behind.

Meanwhile, in the Laser Radial Class, Navy’s Petty Officer Najeebullah Khan grabbed a bronze medal when he secured third place among 13 competitors.

Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah, Chief of the Naval Staff and Patron-in-Chief Pakistan Sailing Federation, complimented the sailors for their brilliant performances and bringing laurels and honour to the country.
