KOHAT: Four persons, including the great grandson of the former king of Kohat, were killed in a clash between rival groups over a land dispute in Shaheeda Banda area here on Sunday.

The land dispute had been long running between the Orakzai tribesmen and the family Shehzada Shahidullah.

The family of Shahidullah on Sunday took a tractor to the disputed land and tried to plough it. However, the Orakzai tribesmen pulled their guns at Mr Shahidullah, killing him and his guard identified as Aamir on the spot.

The other members of Shahidullah family retaliated and killed two persons from the rival group, who were named Taj Mohammad and Yousuf Khan.

One Shehzada Zahir Shah told Jarma police that his son, Shahidullah, and Aamir were working in their fields when their rivals, Yousuf Khan, Kameen Shah, Taj Mohammad, Yar Mohammad, Fayyaz Mohammad and Jamshed opened firing at them, killing them on the spot.

On the other hand, in the cross FIR, Ms Iqbal Janana told the police that his son, Taj Mohammad and Kameen Khan, were called by Shahidullah, Kalo Khan, Kattu Khan and Aamir to come to the fields and negotiate a settlement. But instead they shot the two dead and injured Yousuf Khan, who was shifted to hospital. The police registered case and began investigations.
