PASNI: A rocket attack on a convoy of Khuzdar district police officer (DPO) Abdul Aziz Yousafzai killed two policemen and injured as many near Pasni area of Balochistan's Gwadar district on Saturday.

DPO Khuzdar was traveling to Gwadar along with his family to attend a marriage function when a rocket hit the convoy from an unknown direction.

Two policemen escorting the DPO died on the spot whereas two others were critically wounded.

Security and rescue teams reached the attack site.

The victims were shifted to Basic Health Unit Pasni for treatment. Security forces cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway.

However, security sources suspect Baloch insurgents could be behind the attack.

Militants in the area have been targeting vital national installations including railway tracks, power pylons and gas pipelines for almost a decade.
