QUETTA: An alleged suicide bomber was killed on Friday during an exchange of fire with security forces in Balochistan's Loralai district.

Security sources told Dawn.com that forces conducted an operation in the Maikhtar area of Lorlai district.

The militants resisted the security forces and one alleged suicide bomber blew himself up during a shoot out that lasted for an hour. Another militant fled from the spot.

A search operation was launched in the area to apprehend the fleeing militant, sources said.

The sources stated that arms and ammunition were recovered from the militants safe haven.

Security forces conducted the operation after receiving intelligence on the area.

The militants in the area are stated to have been involved in kidnapping for ransom and targeted killings.

This incident comes hours after a major terrorist bid was foiled after an explosive-laden vehicle was seized, while an alleged suicide bomber was captured in the Panjpai area of Quetta.
