TIMERGARA: Qaumi Watan Party senior vice president Bakht Baidar Khan on Saturday criticised Imran Khan for failing to produce the evidence of his alleged corruption during the last one and a half years.

He alleged that he was expelled from the provincial cabinet at the behest of the Jamaat-i-Islami leadership.

The QWP leader was speaking at a public meeting in Gadar Adenzai, where many JI, Awami National Party and Pakistan People’s Party workers announced they had joined the QWP. Among them were Muzaffar Khan, Arshadzada, Ghulam Haider, Roidad Khan, Rahimuddin, Rahamzada and Junaid Khan. Bakht Baidar claimed he had moved the court against the PTI chief over the corruption charge and that Imran Khan had so far miserably failed to prove the charge. He said the PTI chief should publicly apologise to him for defaming him.

The QWP leader said his was the only political party, which truly represented Pakhtuns. He said chief of his party Aftab Sherpao had been working for the welfare of Pakhtuns.

PARENTS PROTEST: The parents of schoolchildren, who were run over and killed and injured by a teacher in Mayar Jandol area, have complained about denial of compensation.

They made the complaint during a demonstration in front of the Timergara Press Club.

The protesters told reporters that Abdul Basit and Hayatur Rehman were killed and a dozen more schoolchildren suffered injuries when a car recklessly driven by a teacher knocked them down during the school’s morning assembly on November 22 last year.

They alleged that the school administration and education department were protecting the teacher.

The protesters said JI chief Sirajul Haq had paid the relevant families Rs200,000 each on behalf of his party.

They complained neither the provincial government nor the education department bothered to compensate the families of the dead students, and the injured.

The protesters said the government had announced Rs2 million compensation for the Army Public School students each but ignored the victims of Mayar Jandol incident.

They demanded early announcement of compensation for the dead and injured students.

MALAKAND COMMISSIONER: The administration officers of different districts in Malakand division on Saturday hosted a farewell party for former Malakand commissioner Afsar Khan, who recently retired, at a fishing hut in Chakdara. The Dir levies personnel presented a guard of honour to the former commissioner on arrival.

DIG Malakand Azad Khan, DC Lower Dir Suhail Khan, DC Swat Mehmood Aslam Wazir, DC Malakand Agha Ali Abbas, DC Shangla Saadat Hassan, DC Upper Dir Dr Imran Hamid, political agent of Bajaur Agency Yehya Akhunzada, commander operational force Colonel Suhail and assistant commissioners of Lower Dir, Upper Dir and Malakand were present on the occasion.
