ALPURI: The Shangla district administration on Saturday cleared snow from roads, and reopened Shangla top, Chakesar Kandaw and other routes for traffic.

Deputy commissioner Saadat Hassan told Dawn that the administration had arranged 11 bulldozers to remove snow from the roads to maintain smooth traffic flow to and from the Shangla district.

Officials said that beside the district administration the army soldiers were also busy in clearing roads of snow. So far, major roads of the district have been cleared, they added.

Local people said that majority of roads were closed after Shangla received heavy snow during past two days.

Parts of Shangla usually receive five to seven feet of snow, but this year the district received at least two feet snow so far.

However, the Met Office has forecast more snow in February and March.
