Now this is interesting, rather intriguing. To offset Narendra Modi’s popularity in his stronghold Varanasi and its adjoining areas, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has come up with a plan. To shore up its position in the 2017 assembly elections it has invited MP Jaya Bachchan (wife of Amitabh Bachchan and a brilliant actress in her own right) to lead the party’s preparations for the polls. The first lady of Indian cinema has said yes to the offer and was expected to reach Varanasi in the beginning of the week gone by to discuss important matters with members of the district and city committee.

That’s what you call star power. Modi sahib, hoshiyar!
