Militants still hiding in Buner

BUNER: District police officer (DPO) Khalid Mehmood Hamdani has said that over a dozen militants are still hiding in Elum Ghar area in the houses of their sympathisers. He said that these militants had killed several local elders and police personnel.

Talking to mediapersons at Daggar Press Club here on Thursday, the DPO vowed to eliminate militants with the active cooperation of local population. He said that a strategy had been devised and the security forces and police would initiate a joint action to clear Elum Ghar and surrounding areas from the militants. He said that seven police points had been established at Elum Ghar and a police station would also be established here.

Mr Hamdani said that the police would be made people-friendly. He said that cooperation among different stakeholders would be ensured to curb militancy in the district. He appreciated people of the district for rendering great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism side by side the law enforcement agencies.
