Wah bomber was Lal Masjid student

TAXILA: Preliminary investigation has revealed that Kosar Ali, the suicide bomber who blew himself up at a police picket in Wah on Tuesday, had been a student at the seminary in Lal Masjid.

Police and other law enforcement agencies picked up seven people on Thursday in connection with incident.

Those arrested were taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation. Among those arrested are two brothers of the suicide bomber.

The brothers were arrested in a midnight operation conducted at their native village, Jabbi Kasran, in Fateh Jang. Kosar Ali has left behind a wife, three brothers and a sister who lives in Faisalabad. His mother told the police that he had left home some three months ago and had not been in contact with the family, including his wife, since.

Police said that another brother of Kosar Ali is in Attock jail for his involvement in a murder case. Two of Kosar Ali’s brothers were construction workers while one was working as a rickshaw driver.

Meanwhile, the bomber’s body has been shifted to the morgue for collection of DNA samples.

This Lal "Fassad-e-Akbar" factory of suicide bombers needs to be razed to the ground or its entire administration needs to be locked up for brainwashing this cannon fodder. Enough is enough! How long can Pakistan be held hostage to the violent threats and actions of this loud mouthed yet vocal minority? Have we not paid enough in blood due to their irresponsible behaviour and words? How can a functioning government allow such poison factory to continue to function in the very heart of the country? If this is not a stupid banana republic then what will it take for Pakistan to turn into one Mr. Nawaz Sharif? Do you for once have the guts to do the right thing for Pakistan and her citizens, the majority of whom want this fitna and fassad finished for once and for all. Close off this seminary or remove the entire administration. Assign government registered personnel who act responsibly in guiding the madrassa students of this country so they can become productive citizens of this country.

Mishandling of Lal Masjid by the Commando keeps on coming back as a nightmare. Pakistani Taliban were created after the Lal masjid fiasco and also the suicide bombings increased. Unfortunately, whatever is happening to us today is the result of wrong policies of the past. We need to learn from our mistakes.

When you will show soft attitude with Lal Masjid administration, a den and nursery for the terrorists, you have to suffer the consequences. Nub the evil in the bud; go after Lal Masjid leadership, arrest them, interrogate them; you will find enough material to stem the tide of terrorism in Pakistan.

Sounds like everything will be blamed on Lal Masjid going forward. I want to ring a bell just because I don't trust those in power. They make up stories and normally people believe it easily. We should demand concrete evidence to this before believing it to be true. I know people will start booing me for these comments, but I stand with justice, and justice is only when it is for all. Yet I have no sympathies for any criminal, whoever he may be associated with.

Now we know that army's standard is much greater than our nation's standards. I dont kno how many ppl know but, ven lal masjid seize took pkace, talibans had made a lal masjid, occupiesd a masjid in fata n wrote lmasjid on it , and ofcourse all the violence etc was ensuing. Alone dat captured masjid to be freed proved to be a tough mission for army. N ppl stilk cud sympathize wid mulana burqaywala

Extreme Income disparity, less than 3% of GDP invested in education. Obtaining Pakistan in name of Islam and then running it on secular lines by allowing usury etc. Has brought us to this situation. Invest at least 10% of GDP in education. Forsake usury in all transactions. Tax the rich equitably. This I know cannot be done by any democratic party. May Allah guide us.

I am extremely surprised at the previous comments. Seems like my country men are extremely myopic and have forgotten the events leading up to the Lal masjid attack. Musharraf took action once there were complaints about the Lal masjid miscreants who had started openly burning CD shops, kidnapping people (especially the Chinese), harassing women in Islamabad, your capital (where btw all the foreign dignitaries, ambassadors, not to mention your institutional hub is located). Once the media got to know of this, it put a lot of pressure, who had to act. Please PLEASE stop justifying the horrendous actions of the Lal Masjid miscreants as a reply to the operation, they openly declared their support for Sharia in Islamabad first, and begun their atrocious activities BEFORE the military operation!!

The operation was carried out after the failure of months long negotiations including futile visit of Imam e Kaba and Ulema of Wafaq ul Madaris. This provides a perfect solution to the dilemma faced by the government that their tough actions can be seen as a move to target madrassahs. The government should announce that no madrassah will be directly targetted, BUT there will be zero tolerance for violence emanating from any madrassah. As soon as a madrassah student or teacher is found involved in terror, that particular madrassah will be shut down permanently. Get this written into a law, and get the madrassah associations to sign it.

While government should action against Lal Masjid administration it is also the responsibility of the ulema to highlight how this mosque admin is working against Islamic teachings. Since by and large people are not aware of the working of Lal Masjid they consider action against it as the action against Islam. Once they know it they would hate it and government would be in a position to deal with it effectively.
