PESHAWAR: Former provincial senior minister and PPP leader Rahimdad Khan has criticised the federal government for ‘changing’ the route of the Pak-China Economic Corridor.

Talking to reporters at the Peshawar Press Club here on Monday, he said that the federal government was changing the route only for the interests of Punjab by ignoring the rest of the country. He said the road was earlier passing through Zoab, DI Khan, which would benefit the residents of South and North Waziristan.

The original route, he said, would promote industries, provide jobs and bring prosperity to the militancy hit and backward areas, but the federal government was trying to change it only to benefit the Punjab province.

Rahimdad Khan said that new roads under the project would pass through Multan and Lahore, which already had industries. He urged the government to work for the welfare and prosperity of the entire country ‘instead of only one province’.

DEGREE CASE: The PPP leader said on Monday that the Peshawar High Court had suspended the verdict of the Gomal University regarding his degree case. He said that on January 13, the court had not only restored his degree but it had issued notice to the varsity administration and sought explanation from the relevant officials.

He said that it was astonishing that the Gomal University had declared his BA degree valid, but later termed it illegal.
