Megastar Shahrukh Khan will be seen next in the upcoming movie, Raees, directed by Rahul Dholakia, alongside Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and the critically acclaimed Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The Happy New Year star is impressed with the cast and says that he will now have to perform as well as his co-stars, according to a report published on the Hindustan Times.

Shahrukh said at the launch of Dabboo Ratnani's annual calendar: "Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan are there in the film (Raees). Both of them are very accomplished actors. I think the cast is really wonderful. Now I would have to excel and perform like them."

The actor is set to join the film's shoot by the end of March.

Mahira, who shot to fame with her monumental role in Pakistani television show Humsafar, will be playing the female lead in the movie.

Farhan Akhtar will be co-producing the venture, along with Ritesh Sidhwani, who also announced Mahira's role on Twitter earlier in December:

SRK has already met Mahira and was all praise for the actor: "Rahul (Dholakia) liked her. She suited the film a lot. I have seen a little bit part of her television stuff. I have met her and she is a marvellous actor."

During Mahira's visit to ‪India‬ in 2014, the starlet was quizzed about her favourite Bollywood actor and she was quick to name SRK, revealing, “I would be cheating on Shahrukh Khan, if I take another name here. I would love to work with him some day. I have been his fan ever since I was 13 years old, and my love for him stays strong even today.”

The Sadqay Tumharay leading lady will be playing SRK's wife in the film. Khan will be reprising the role of a gangster based in Gujarat while Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the cop who traps him in Mumbai.

No release date has been announced for the movie as yet.
