QUETTA: The Frontier Corps (FC) on Thursday arrested seven suspected militants from coastal highway near Balochistan's port city of Gwadar.

According to FC spokesman, the forces conducted a raid near Shadikur area of Gwadar where they arrested the seven militants.

He said security forces recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the accused.

The militants were shifted for interrogation by security agencies. The men belong to a banned militant organisation, operating in the area.

The spokesman stated that the arrested militants were involved in acts of kidnapping, targeted killings and attacks on security forces.

The FC's claim could not be verified by independent sources.

Militants in the area have been targeting security forces and vital national installations in the area for more than a decade.
