ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday approved the appointment of Justice Mohammad Noor Meskanzai as the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court (BHC).

Justice Meskanzai is the most senior judge serving at the BHC and would assume responsibilities as its chief justice from Dec 26.

Outgoing CJ BHC Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mengal is retiring upon attaining the age of superannuation today (Dec 24).

President Mamnoon approved Justice Meskanzai’s appointment as CJ BHC upon receiving a summary initiated by the Senate and on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, presidential spokesperson Farooq Adil told Dawn.

The parliamentary committee on appointments in the superior judiciary had already approved Justice Meskanzai's appointment.
