KARACHI: Two brothers were shot dead while two other people wounded in a suspected targeted attack on their bakery in Khokhrapar on Sunday morning, police said.

They added that armed motorcyclists stormed the Tanveer Sweets and Bakery in Madina Colony at around 8.30am and opened indiscriminate fire on the people there before fleeing.

As a result, four persons sustained wounds and were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced 32-year-old Tanveer Hashmat and his 30-year-old younger brother Tauseef Hashmat dead on arrival.

Their 35-year-old employee Munawar Mohsin and 13-year-old Azan were admitted for treatment.

“It definitely appeared to be an act of targeted killing,” Korangi SSP Nazeer Ahmed Mirbahar said. However, he added that the exact motive could not be ascertained immediately.

The victims had no known affiliation with any religious or political party. Their father also told the police that they had not received any extortion chit, said the officer.
