Never-ending terrorism

Published December 20, 2014

NEVER-ENDING terrorism in Pakistan is the outcome of corruption, lawlessness and poor quality of security and police management. This is due to the involvement of criminal elements in political set-ups and politicians’ refusal to hold local-body elections on one pretext or the other. Thus the police have become thoroughly politicised and corrupt.

Our security measures to tackle the perennial law and order situation and terrorism are adhoc arrangements while what is required are long-term policies and well-thought out measures implementing law enforcement systems and controls. This is the purview of highly literate and well-qualified people, and there is an acute dearth of such personnel in Pakistan.

We need a totally honest and sincere police force if Pakistan is to beat terrorism and control crimes.
