Peshawar attack was not jihad: Fazl

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday condemned the terrorist attack on the Peshawar school and said his party does not consider it as jihad, DawnNews reported.
“We do not consider atrocities like the Peshawar attack as part of jihad,” he said.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, the JUI-F leader said that “when a patient does not get well through medicine, then the only option left is an operation”.
“The terrorists themselves have shut the doors for negotiation,” he said.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the atrocity in Peshawar was a blot on the name of Islam and an attempt to deface it.
When replying to a question, he said that Pakistan and Afghanistan should form a joint strategy to fight and defeat terrorism.
The JUI-F leader also said that the death penalty was the law of the land and was not being reinstated only due to the Peshawar attack.

Fazlur Rahman is a very shrewd man. He condemned the attack because he know the national mood and has to say things that are politically correct even though he has something else in his heart/mind. He is the one who had been siding with terrorists in the past.

Dear Maulana , at last you have realized that its not Jehad as such ! I would like to ask you to go back few steps and retake your earlier stance where you had been reported to have said , that in reference to Batullah meshud's killings ( a terrorist by the same yardstick ) you yourself and your party declared him a Shaheed ( the one who dies in the jehad fee sabillilah ) . Had you and your party shown some guts and pronounced Meshud a terrorist and not a shaheed , perhaps it would have helped to bring in some senses into these terrorists thinking !!!!!

he vey carefully falls short of condemning those who carried out the attack. He and the likes of him do condemn such attacks but also provide justifications for the same, presenting them as suppressed, illtreated, etc. There is no gray area here its just black and white. If you oppose the act, oppose the actor also else just shut up.
