Lodhi leaves for Dubai today

KARACHI: International Master Mahmood Lodhi is leaving for Dubai on Wednesday to take part in the third Al Ain Chess Classic being staged from Dec 18 to 27.

The 14-time national champion is lone player invited from Pakistan for the nine-round event played on Swiss open system carrying a prize purse of $34,000.

Defending champion Abhijeet Gupta of India is one of 54 Grand Masters taking part in the event which will see 127 players from 25 nations in action.
