KARACHI: After stunning upsets pulled off by juniors duo Abdul Raheem and Mohammad Faheem against fancied cueists on Saturday, their contemporary Mohammad Haris Nadeem of Sindh routed Islamabad-based Shahram Changezi 4-1 while Sultan Mohammad humbled national champion Mohammad Asif Toba 4-2 in the third ranking snooker cup on Sunday.

Junior Sindh champion, Haris, who has lost two matches on the opening day, came up with fine performance while routing 10th ranked Changezi 60-56, 59-37, 71-55, 1-106, 80-18 at the National Bank Sports Complex to post first win in group C.

Sindh’s Sultan, who is trailing in the ranking, sent country’s top cueist Toba packing 80-6, 71-36, 33-63, 35-69, 64-53, 72-58 in the group A fixture.

Second seed Mohammad Sajjad survived another scare to inflict 4-3 defeat on Amir Tariq – his second similar win in two days. The world silver medallist stormed back from 1-3 down to win 24-82, 46-78, 55-12, 0-83, 62-39, 77-12, 70-58.

Playing his second match of the day in the last session, Sajjad routed Aakash Rafique of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 4-2 which includes a century break of 118 in the second frame.

Former Pakistan No 1 Imran Shehzad also kept his unbeaten run intact winning back-to-back matches against Mohammad Ishtiaq and Mohammad Yousuf. He came up with a break of 101 in the fourth frame while routing the former 4-0 and followed with another elegant break of 115 in the third frame while getting the better of the latter 4-2.
