Altaf demands explanation of Bilawal's 'na-maloom afraad' remark

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has demanded an explanation from PPP Chairman Bilalwal Bhutto-Zardari over the latter's remarks of Oct 6, calling for the reigning in of na-maloom afraad (unknown persons), the MQM website said.

The MQM chief has also asked the chiefs of law enforcement agencies (LEAs), former president Asif Ali Zardari, former interior minister Rehman Malik, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad Khan to answer his query within 15 days after holding an inquiry into Bilawal's statements.

Addressing a gathering of family members of people killed in the 2007 Karsaz blast, the Pakistan Peoples Party chairman on the first day of Eidul Azha had called upon the MQM chief to ask his ‘unknown persons' to take caution. Bilawal had warned that if any PPP workers were hurt, he would, like the London Metropolitan Police, make the MQM chief's life miserable.

In his statement, Hussain asked on what basis did Bilawal level such allegations and issued a threat against him.

Hussain further said that if the PPP Chairman, Co-chairman and the party's Central Executive Committee failed to address his query, then he would be left with no option but to take legal action against Bilawal for using threatening language against him.

The state of growing irrelevance of some political parties is such that they have to quote remarks passed 2 months ago (2 decades in political terms) to claim significance. I think the expansion of middle classes will be the undoing for the current political actors.

I used to criticize Altaf Hussain for running his party from London, thus creating bad image for his party MQM also. It was a superfluous image. MQM is a party of poor people, but educated and rational. Altaf Hussain himself has no desire to become PM or run for any position, unlike Nawaz or Benazir who want to be PM for life and then their children to inherit . Altaf Hussain is just dedicated to represent his people and defend their rights. As a result, his party members love him and are dedicated to him. I have lived in USA for over 50 years, and have no affiliation with any political party in Pakistan. I clearly feel that MQM government will be whole lot better for Pakistan than PMLn, PPP, etc. I also see many common points between MQM, Musharraf, and Imran Khan. I hope Pakistanis will make wise decisions for themselves.

Me and my entire family are die hard MQM supporters and will remain that way, however, I do not know why Altaf bhai waited this long to rebuke Bilo Rani's comments....nonetheless, EAST OR WEST, MQM IS THE BEST !

Bilal is still a new kid in a block, don't know exactly what to talk and how his statement would perceived. Rather than criticizing other leaders, he should come with the new plan and new ideas, what he would do differently for Pakistan, which would be better than all ruling old timers. How would he stop corruption and ask all the politicians to bring all money back to Pakistan in interest of Pakistan. Bilal should not act that the People Party chairmanship is inherited to him because of his mother and grand father, but he deserves it because of his ability.
