PPP won't let anyone impose agenda through force: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: In what appeared to be a message to certain political and religious elements, PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari said the PPP would not permit anyone to impose any peculiar agenda through brute force and using the facade of religion.
"The party is also conscious of threats to democracy in the name of democracy itself and is determined to foil them," Zardari said in a statement issued in relation to the 47th founding day of the party which falls on November 30.
"Our founding principles ‘democracy is our politics’ and ‘all power to the people’ are ingrained in the consciousness of the people and will never be erased," he said.
He said this year the Pakistan Peoples Party was celebrating its founding day by holding conventions of party workers for stock-taking and soul-searching as well as for reiterating its commitment to the ideals for the pursuit of which the it was founded by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
"We reiterate that all power belongs to the people and they alone have the power to bring about political change through the ballot box," he remarked.

Zardari said that while the threat of imposition of direct dictatorship may appear to have receded, PPP was not unmindful of the other forms of "threats to democracy that rear their ugly heads from time to time".
"The PPP is aware of such threats and is ready to fight them," he said.
Zardari's spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said all preparations had been completed for the party convention which would take place in Lahore tomorrow.
He said two sessions of the convention would be held in Bilawal House Lahore which would be attended by workers and party officials from all over the country.
The session on November 30 would be attended by party workers and leaders from Punjab. Meanwhile, the workers and office bearers from all other provinces, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and tribal areas would join the convention on December 2. All members of the central executive committee of the party have been directed to appear at both sessions of the convention, he said.

@Zak A leader with charisma is a Must for this nation, else the dominant clique of politicians would conspire to subdue any other leader who is only honest at best. Coz honest is only passes for simpleton today. As IK is facing the solidarity of goons in the name of democracy, imagine how far could he go in his confrontation had he not got any charisma ?

Zardari Sahib the word “DEMOCRACY” doesn’t look very nice from your tongue. If you believe in democracy tell people of Pakistan about gold neckless and money you have stashed in Swiss Bank. There is no difference between you and Nawaz Sharif, you both are fooling people of Pakistan in the name of democracy. In real democracy, leader are elected not selected.
May be we, people of Pakistan should demand from Chief Justice to repeal NRO agreements, punish everyone according to
real democratic laws.

Since 1967 when PPP was formed has they conducted any intra-party election to elect their chairperson or CEC. All have been elected by CEC and CEC is formed by choice of the chairperson. They dragged the inadvertent Mr Bilawal Zardari into politics who forsaked his days of play. So this is not suitable for Zardari who himself took advantage of NRO, a total dragonian exploitation of public wealth for the benefit of criminals.

Oh no. Threat to DEMOCRACY again. This is one of the most popular statement for politicians. Most popular 'Don't derail' the democracy, second most popular ' threat to democracy'. Question: Without democracy in political parties (no elections in parties to elect their chief), how can there be democracy in Pakistan? How long NS would be party chief, How long Bilawal would be party chief, how long altaf would be party chief, How long Ch. Shujaat would be part chief, and how long IK would be party chief. I hope all parties have democratic elections evey 4 years to select their party chief, with two term limit, If there is no election in political party itself, than you know if party believes in 'Democracy' or P'ersonility'? Please NO to party chief for life deals any more.

Whenever i saw his smiling face my mind swam in to history of a Muslim leader who lead the juma prayer on Wednesday and every one attended, but no one even dared to tell him that Today is not Friday Sir. This person hijacked the biggest political party, created a new race Bhutto Zardari, fooled all the seasoned politicians and completed the first ever five year term in the History of Pakistan. Opposition was happy with him, Military had no issue with him and still he is smiling probably over the innocence of our Public whom all the time cursed against him but never tried to pull him out of Parliament.
