LAHORE: The Board of Governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to cut short the dual job of a good number of its officials, barring the trio of Moin Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed and Ayesha Ashar until next decision.

The decision has been taken at the 32nd meeting of the Board of Governors, which was held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Shaharyar M. Khan.

Later talking to the media, Shaharyar said as the national team was playing a series against Kiwis, the BoG members had decided to allow Moin and Mushtaq to continue their dual job.

Moin is acting as chief selector and manager of the team. Mushtaq has to act as spin bowling coach at the NCA, but he is also with the national team, playing spin bowling coach there. Ayesha is playing the roles of manager of the national women cricket team as well as secretary of the women wing.

In the first phase, two members of the selection committee, namely Ijaz Ahmad and Mohammad Akram will lose their places either as selectors or NCA coaches.

Though remaining members of the selection committee, namely Shoaib Mohammad, Saleem Yousuf and Wajahatullah Wasti are also playing roles for their respective departmental cricket teams, they are not coming under the restriction of dual job.

Shahid Aslam, who is currently with the Pakistan team as assistant to head coach Waqar Younis may be asked to come back to continue his job at the NCA as manager coach education.

Mohtashim Rasheed and Ali Zia may also be asked to work at the NCA instead of going with the national women team as coach and with national U-19 team as manager, respectively.

Chief selector of the junior selection committee Basit Ali is likely to continue on this post, as he may quit his second post as coordinator for the Sindh Region. He is also coach of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines cricket team.

In fact, the PCB should also has a review on its officials roles with their departmental teams, as it also comes under conflict of interest, especially being as selectors.

The chairman said that another biomechanics test of off-spinner Saeed Ajmal will be conducted in next couple of days at Loughbrough, after which the PCB would be in a position to go ahead to ask the ICC to again test his bowling action.

Ajmal, who is currently facing a ban for illegal bowling action, imposed by the ICC has been included in the preliminary list of the World Cup probables.

Shaharyar said the PCB would try its best to get Ajmal cleared from the ICC before Jan 7, which is the deadline for submitting the final World Cup squad to the game’s governing body for next year mega event to be organised jointly by Australia and New Zealand.

The BoGs said the arrival of Kenya team was a first step to revive international cricket in Pakistan.

The Kenyan national team arrives here on Dec 11 to play five one-day matches against Pakistan ‘A’, all in Lahore.

Meanwhile, the house was also informed that the PCB has the plan to invite ambassadors of all cricket playing countries, based in Islamabad, to come and watch the matches against Kenya, so that they could personally assess security measures.

Holland and Zimbabwe teams would also tour Pakistan next year, the house was informed, while steps were also being taken to invite under-19 teams of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in near future.

The BoGs has also discussed the chances of holding first edition of the Pakistan Super League next year. The BoG members also asked the PCB to make a five-year vision plan. Shaharyar had also completed 100 days as head of the PCB and briefed the house about his achievements.

It was also decided the PCB would work with local governments to create a plan to get management of the stadium with full control.

Shaharyar also praised his predecessor Najam Sethi’s efforts he had done to include Pakistan in a powerful executive committee of the ICC, where Three Big India, Australia, England along with the West Indies are also sitting.

The BoG also observed one minute silence for Australian Test cricketer Phillip Hughes. The update was also given on Mohammad Amir’s case.

Meanwhile, no discussion was held to expand the strength of the BoG by including some more affiliated units in it.
