QUETTA: A suspected militant was killed and two Frontier Corps personnel were injured in a gunbattle in Kahan area of Kohlu district on Thursday.

Eight armed militants were arrested and a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from their hideouts during a search operation in Sorz area, an FC spokesman said .

He said the search operation had been carried out on a tip about the presence of militants belonging to a banned organisation. He said militants started firing when FC troops arrived in the area, adding that in the ensuing fighting one suspected militant died and two FC men were injured.
