Kalabagh dam

Published November 25, 2014

I AM no votary of the PML-Q, but hats off to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for taking up the Kalabagh dam issue so pointedly.

What an irony that while the parched lands are crying for water, no less than 38 maf is being allowed to go to waste to sea every year. While the whole country is starved of electricity, we have given up a source of 3,600 megawatts of electricity with zero recurring cost of fuel to the ruination of agriculture, industry and, in fact, the entire economy of the country.

The initiative taken by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is laudable and we hope that they will not only keep it up but will take it up as a crusade, with the whole nation at their back.

Today even the ‘mighty’ Imran Khan has chickened out on the issue of Kalabagh before the crowd at Larkana !
