LHC conditionally restores Mubashir Lucman’s suspended program

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has conditionally allowed anchorperson Mubashir Lucman to appear on air, after Pemra banned him last month for telecasting scandalous and defamatory programmes against the judiciary.
A five-judge LHC bench headed by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi allowed Lucman to continue his programme ‘Khara Such’ after he appeared in court on Monday and apologised for the defamatory show, his lawyer Ramzan Chaudhry said.
“I appeared (in court) with the respondents and pleaded for the mercy of the honourable court. I informed the bench that we will not be contesting the contempt of court notice, that my client had no intention of disrespecting the judiciary. The court was gracious and accepted our apology,” said Chaudhry.
The court has allowed ARY NEWS to air the programme until November 28, the next hearing when the bench will meet for final adjudication of the case.
Pemra had banned ‘Khara Such’ and its host from appearing on any TV program in any capacity on Oct 19 citing orders of the LHC.
The court had placed restrictions on airing of the show and participation of the anchor in any TV programme for airing an interview of Asim Malik, owner of a firm Future Concern, in which serious allegations had been levelled against the judiciary.
Speaking to a local TV channel, Lucman said he respects the judiciary and that he filed a compassionate appeal before the honourable court.
“I am a grateful and I won’t term it a victory or defeat of anyone,” he said.

Shame on Judiciary, who considers themselves above the law. Who can make judiciary accountable? Is there is any such process? If they do not do their job, then they should be criticized, although with proofs and facts.

not sure how credible courts are .. one day they make decision against it, other day they turn it down.. Mubbashir often found humiliating judiciary.. and seems judiciary cant protest itself from such menace journalism..

How can judiciary stop, or let others stop, someone from making a living? Well, if someone defames, judiciary, then there are prescribed punishments in law. Making a living is a fundamental right. That can not be and must not be denied. Fail to understand the decision.
Our judiciary is free. But was it a fair decision?
There are good people in Pakistan and then there are lots of corrupt. Judiciary is no island of piety. It exist in same people and in same culture.
We need to fix outselves as people, before others fix us.

No respect for this fake anchor. Those crying the freedom of press is at stake, I say the integrity of press is at stake if sold out anchor Lucman is able to return. He should be banned for the simple reason that he made allegations without proof. His apology is a win a for the judiciary, for if lucman was true, he would have substantiated his allegations.

I was a great fan of Mubashir Lucman till he turned himself as a spokesperson of PTI. He was utilizing that air time for PTI. Anchor person should be unbiased and impartial, who should show and tell the reality and truth.. Not try to defend IK's idiotic theory and approach......Having said all this...I must say that NS should step down and resign......PML-N and PPP are the root cause of Pakistan's destabilization.........No one is sincere with Pakistan....

Mubashir was banned because he showed what SUCH is. What is needed is a clean up of the Judiciary so that justice is done at all levels and programs like Khara Such is allowed to be aired and everyone including the Judges to be exposed. Mubashir Luqman welcome back and keep on exposing people like Sanaullah who was removed from provincial ministry.

we need to have checks and balances on judiciary as no one should be allowed to be above the law which includes judiciary.
Media should be transparent, objective, truthful and factual about it's reporting and more importantly there should be complete freedom of speech

Lucman is not a journalist. When you start attending rallies of one party, it is clear you are a protagonist of that party, and not an unbiased journalist.
