KHAR: Three girls were killed and another was wounded in landslide in Inam Kharoo Chinagai area of Mamond tehisl in Bajaur Agency on Sunday.

The residents of the area said that the incident occurred when a group of minor girls was passing by the place to go home from a nearby playground. Three girls identified as seven-year-old Safia, six-year-old Uzama, eight-year-old Pansa were killed on the spot while six-year-old Hansa was critically injured in the incident.

The local people rushed to the scene of occurrence when they heard cries of girls and started rescue work. The injured girl was taken to the agency headquarters hospital in Khar.

A doctor said that Hansa was referred to a hospital in Swat because of her precarious condition.

JI: The local leaders of Jamaat-i-Islami said here on Sunday that a large number of people including women from Bajaur Agency would participate in the public meeting of the party at Minar-i-Pakistan, Lahore.

Addressing a press conference, JI leader Qari Abdul Majeed said that several committees were formed to convince people across the agency to participating in the public gathering of the party. “We have started meetings with people including tribal elders, youth and workers of various political and religious parties to convince them about participating in the public gathering that will be held at Minar-i-Pakistan from November 21 to 23,” he added.

Mr Majeed said that the efforts of the party workers were bearing fruits as a number of people had assured them of their participation in the public gathering. He said that a number of women and girl students of the agency would also attended the public gathering of JI. He said that special arrangements had been made for the purpose.

The JI leader said that the party leadership had assigned the local chapter to bring 5,000 people from the agency to the public gathering but he hoped that over 10,000 people from the region would attend the congregation at Minar-i-Pakistan.
