DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A child was burnt alive when a tent of internally displaced Mahsud family caught fire in the Gomal bazaar area of Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday evening.

Sources in the political administration of South Waziristan Agency said that the incident took place in the Nurses area, a remote locality in the jurisdiction of Gomal bazar police station. They said that the fire suddenly broke out in the tent-house of Ali Marjan Mahsud when the family was not present. The fire reduced the entire tent to ashes. A three-year-old son of Ali Marjan, namely Gul Jan, was also burnt alive.

Local people said that the children were playing with a matchbox inside the tent when the fire started. Other children escaped unhurt.
