Pervaiz lashes out at PTI chief for assailing Asma Jehangir

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid Tuesday said before criticising senior lawyer Asma Jehangir, Imran Khan should understand that political liberties enjoyed by him today were the outcome of sacrifices rendered by democratic people like Jehangir.
The minister, in a statement, said the criticism on leaders, who had rendered great sacrifices for democracy in the country, was condemnable.
He asked those leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), who were well aware of Asma Jehangir's democratic and political struggle for rights, to force Khan to retract his statement.
Earlier in the day while addressing participants of his ongoing sit-in at D-Chowk, the PTI chairman had said that Asma Jehangir criticises women for dancing in his rallies whereas she herself has done the same in India.
“Apparently Asma Jehangir and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have become friends,” he added.
The remarks follow Jehangir’s criticism hurled at the PTI chief for issuing ‘anti-judiciary’ statements against the backdrop of the latter’s objection in the appointment of Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

dancing is not a bad thing
It helps giving Pakistan's softer image
People who challenges it from Islamic point of view need to look into their own acts before pointing fingers outward
Islam is used for these petty issues and big fundamental things are put under the carpet, like speaking truth, bribery and corruption, looting and killing innocents etc etc and list goes on

Why in the world would a progressive trailblazer like Asma Jehangir allegedly make comments about females dancing during a PTI dharma? Such views seem uncharacteristic of both. It appears that Asma's and Imran's comments were taken out of contest or "edited" by someone who wants to create and stir a hornet's nest.

Very shallow by Imran Khan to criticize assets of your country. A fearless lady who never shies away to criticize establishment. A bold, blunt and visionary lawer and human rights activist also not spared by this madman trying shortcuts for power. Asma Jehangir is probably one of the few non-controversial liberal people in Pakistan. Shame IK!

Dancing is a natural way for humans to express HAPPINESS. Put a nice song on and a 3 months old baby will start dancing by moving her legs and arms. No one teaches a 3 months old to dance, it comes natural.

IK merely pointed out the hypocrisy. I find it rather commendable than condemnable to bring into the light how two faced politicians are all over the country. So when JUI-F chielf criticized PTI with the women dancing comments, not a single word was uttered by Pervaiz Rasheed or PMLN and now when IK said the same thing (although I agree he should not have said that) about Asma Jahangir. the whole world comes loose. Do you not see the contradiction in this? contradiction is present on both sides. IK for defending his women and criticizing Asma and PMLN for not opening their mouth when JUI-F commented on women.

Asma Jehangir was fighting for human rights when Imran Khan was sitting in (Musharraf) dictator's lap. People, including Imran Khan, take for granted that someone fought for liberties that they enjoy today. If they don't have heart to appreciate then at least should have decency not to criticise them.

I am not supporting anyone but if IK is telling the truth then his point is valid and can not be nulified just because of another good deed. One day Khan has to step down that container and I fear for this man as he has insulted and humiliated too many people publicly. He is a foolish man and acts often in haste rather than wisdom. Besides in the rest of the world one has to stand justice for accusations and humiliation and proof the facts. He how ever has proofed little if any thing at all so far but keeps on mudslinging any one that attars a word of criticisms to wards him.

she is a hypocrite. I've never heard she has spoken about poor people of Thar, the IDPs, the daily victims of Karachi, Palestinians, Kashmiris, etc. She always raise her voice in the political paradigm of Pakistan where she sees her interests are served.
If this is the human right to cast their vote in pure and transparent way then why not she stands against those who have come to power by rigging. If she gives it a name of evolution then evolution itself does not have any model but become itself a specie and we will not let this specie come into existence in our beloved country.

Nothing wrong with IK's statement. Why should he retract it? If she has danced in India, why is she criticizing the women dancing in Islamabad? Asma Jehangir WAS an example for Pakistani women but she seems to have lost her way. And I wonder why this Minister is speaking on behalf of her. She is a lawyer and should be able to defend herself, or is there some other reason for the support??? What a lot of buffoons we have in our federal and provincial cabinets.

as regards IK's demand of ISI and MI, I wish we take pragmatic approach:
There is ample evidence, that justify examination of votes (all parties agree).
Role of military in Pakistan in current scenario is not deniable
PML(N) has a history of rigging elections (historical data).
Judiciary's as well as military role has remained controversial in elections
I see more advantages than not in a broader commission for vote re-evaluation.

Let us look at the facade of these people who of course are elected by the citizens of Pakistan, who mostly are poor, Sometimes I wonder why they send such characters to the Assemblies.
Name one member of the Pakistan politics who is honorable. Sharif brothers, Zardari, Imran Khan and many others live in palatial houses, ride large and expensive SUV's, Maintain homes in other parts of the world and they are supposed to represent the poor of the country.
Fault lies with the people of Pakistan for electing such characters to the Assemblies.
Time has come for the good people of Pakistan to come together and send some honest people to the Assemblies.

Asma represented zardari!. She did nothing when ppp was in power. Yeh kaise rights activist hai. If she was a fighter abhi tak she would have done something for minorities or people of thar or the electoral process or bauhat se.cheezain hain basic human rights. Par naai kiya. Khan has so far attacked so many people and called them corrupt and dishonest he how ever has never touched any ex Generals even though it is well known that they had and are making a lot of money with the Land and are involved in many deal makings with high commissions. They almost all live a very lavish life style with the latest cars, own Farms and big houses all over the world. But no word about that topic from the container has yet echoed in the Margala hills. So is it justice for all or conveniently for a selected group?? Is it a calculated so called revolution that has some unspoken security as a backing?? Many questions are arising lately !
