Protesters demand early arrest of culprit behind Hazara girl’s murder

QUETTA: Activists of Hazara Students Federation (HSF) on Saturday evening urged upon the law enforcers to apprehend the culprit involved in the cold-blooded murder of six-year-old girl Saher Batool.

HSF activists staged a protest demonstration outside the office of Balochistan police chief to mourn the cruel murder of Batool.

Her dead body was found near a heap of garbage on Zarghoon road, located in high security zone of Quetta on October 28.

Quetta Police Chief Razzaq Cheema told Dawn.com that in an attempt of rape, the culprit had strangulated Batool. Cheema stated that there were marks of torture on the neck and face of Saher.

The grief-stricken mother of the girl also participated in the protest demonstration outside Inspector General Police's office. “Arrest the killers of my daughter,” she told Dawn with burst of tears.

“What was the sin of my daughter, why they killed her,” she said. “Where is the government… what it has been doing,” she questioned.

Women and children also participated in the protest demonstration to mount pressure on the police to trace out the culprit. They carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans, “we want justice”, “killer of Saher must be arrested”.

They also chanted full-throated slogans against the merciless murder of the innocent girl.

Mounting public pressure prompted the police to form a high level investigation team to probe into the murder. However, the Quetta Police Chief Cheema admits, “we are still clueless about the accused”.

The police have not been able to track down the accused despite passage of more than week and no progress has been made in this regard.
