KARACHI: Four police officials were wounded in two separate attacks in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Friday evening, officials said.

Two policemen were hurt in an explosion under the Nipa flyover while the others were wounded in a gun attack in Federal B Industrial Area.

Gulshan SP Abid Qaimkhani said two motorcyclists hurled some explosive material at a police van under the flyover where the police were conducting random spot checks on vehicles. The policemen were hurt and their van was damaged in the explosion. The suspects sped away, the officer said.

In the Federal B Industrial Area, two policemen were shot at and wounded, officials said.

ASI Imran and constable Iqbal Nazir were passing through the F.B Industrial Area bridge when some motorcyclists fired at them and sped away, said Gulberg SP Chaudhry Asad Ali.

The officer suspected a local criminal gang behind the incident.
