PESHAWAR: The displaced families of Khyber Agency have warned to observe a sit-in outside the Governor House here on Sunday against the federal government over non-availability of ration and other basic facilities at the camps.

Talking to mediapersons at a camp set up by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf at Peshtakhara chowk on Friday, the party’s Fata leader Haji Iqbal Afridi said that hundreds of families were in dire need of ration, beds, clothes and other items of basic needs as they had left behind everything owing to the fresh military operation in the agency. He said that there was no registration camp for the displaced persons.

Referring to the displacement of Waziristan IDPs, he said that the people were provided with all basic items, including cash, but those hailing from Khyber tribal region were totally ignored for unknown reasons.

Mr Afridi said that the federal government was least bothered to resolve the problems being faced by the displaced tribesmen.

The military operation, he said had been launched without any prior intimation to the people. He said that there was no arrangement for transportation from the remote hilly areas and people had to walk to Peshawar with whatever luggage they could bring on their shoulders.

Mr Afridi said that many people were still stranded in different far fl ung areas due to non-availability of transport.
