DERA MURAD JAMALI: Police got a kidnapped man freed after heavy exchange of fire with kidnappers in Pat Feeder area of Jaffarabad district on Friday.

Sikandar was kidnapped from Sheikhupura two months ago. “The kidnappers had demanded Rs3 million for his release,” District Police Officer Syed Ashfaq Anwar Shah told reporters.

He said the Sheikhupura police contacted the Jaffarabad police after tracing telephone calls made by kidnappers revealing that Sikandar had been kept in Jaffarababd.

The kidnappers opened fire on police when they raided the place in a village where Sikandar was kept, the DPO said. Police retaliated and the shootout continued for an hour before the kidnappers escaped, leaving Sikandar behind.
