15 held at Occupy protest in UK

LONDON: London police on Tuesday said they had arrested 15 protesters who had set up an Occupy camp opposite parliament, but the anti-capitalist demonstrators vowed to continue the protest. “Fifteen people have been arrested,” said a police statement.

The Occupy London group has been protesting on Parliament Square since Friday, and they said they would try to set up their camp again.

“Protesters are trying to reoccupy Parliament Square, despite police attempting to violently crush the protest,” the group said.

A reporter saw around 20 activists on the square, with some 40 officers standing by.

Green Party politician Jenny Jones was among those arrested, but was later “de-arrested once the police realised who she was,” according to Occupy.
