ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday said it aims to hold a Women's Cricket Cup in the name of Pakistani Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai]1 to pay tribute to her for the achievement.
A PCB official said the chairman has thoughts to introduce a tournament named after Malala in order to give the country's women cricketers, who had recently won gold during the 17th Asian Games, a boost to build up their confidence.
“However, the final decision will be made after the consultation with the board to finalise the Cup,” he said adding that the tournament will be a tribute to the Nobel Peace Prize winner for her tremendous achievement for the country.
Malala gained worldwide recognition after she was injured two years ago in a Taliban attack for her outspokenness regarding women and the right to a fair education.
She survived the attack and has since been able to take her campaign to a global stage.
The PCB official said that the board has always played a tremendous role in the evolution and development of women's cricket in the country.
“PCB continues to provide a number of women's tournaments being organised for the last 3-4 years now and the standard of these competitions is improving every year,” he said.
He said women players won the Asian Gold Medal twice and hence have every right to be well recognised worldwide.

In my opinion scholarship in the name of Malala for girls education in pakistan would be greater tribute to Malala. Malala & cricket has no link at all. May be PCB wants to revive cricket in Pakistan through this tournament. Anyway...Good Luck..!!!

It's not what she's been through ( may be so ) but it's the hope and voice she's given to millions of girls
A voice against injustices of the society which people like you probably don't know or don't want to acknowledge. You'll understand better if you go to that part of the world and try to live with your daughters. That is , if you think daughters are precious and that they have rights -- right to speak , education and so on. Hope and voice my friend. Hope and voice. And she did it perfectly knowing what can happen to her -- and she ended up taking a bullet on her head. And look at her age --- standing up against people who are barbaric.

Afghanistan does not have a women cricket team. Who do you think from current women cricketing nations (Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Ireland) would like to visit Pakistan to put their lives at risk to pay tribute to Malala? Kindly remind your PCB Chairman do something for cricket in order justify his salary and perks.
Secondly, I wish to humbly ask, just look at the picture, does it look like that Malala had been shot in the head? Bright eyes, healthy face and no sign of any scar was it a major surgery or she reborn.

@muhammad ... Sir, Kindly forward me the link of 'epiode' you are referring to. I would love to read but this should be from reputable source like Dawn. Within my very limited knowledge I am not aware that Malala undergone any major reconstruction or cosmetic surgery.
Secondly, correct expression for Ms. Yousafzai is 'HER' not 'HIS' I will consider this a typing mistake rather than your ignorance about English basics.
Lastly, I would appreciate if you could enlighten me that by asking a question, how a person become ignored or biased?
My question is still unanswered. Need a logical answer with verifable information.
