LARKANA: The Larkana anti-terrorism court on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to two brothers after they were found guilty of robbing and killing a man and wounding a passer-by in 2002.

According to the prosecution, Sadoro Mirbahar and Suleman Mirbahar opened fire when Mashooque Jagirani resisted their attempt to rob him of his cash and valuables in the Rasoolabad area falling within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station on Dec 24, 2002. A passer-by, Sarfraz Ali, was wounded in the firing.

Sadoro, who was arrested after the incident, was produced in the court of Mohammed Riaz Rajput when the judgement was pronounced and sent to jail to serve out the rest of his sentence. Suleman was convicted in absentia as he could not be arrested.

The ATC judge also imposed a fine a fine of Rs100,000 each on the two convicts which would be paid to the deceased victim’s legal heirs.

The judgement said that in case of default, each convict would have to undergo another 10-year rigorous imprisonment.
