Gamez Over stuns Kings Man to land The Youngster Cup

KARACHI: Two-year-old bay filly Gamez Over made an impressive debut when she overcomes fancied colt Kings Man by two lengths to land The Youngster Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The filly from the stables of owner and KRC Steward Syed Ismail Shah was piloted home by experienced rider Ghulam Shabbir II and sent by trainer M. Rafiq K.

Filly Miss Oscar finished third three lengths behind while filly Stylish completed the frame five lengths and a half away among nine starters who all made their debut.

The day, however, belonged to the prominent owner Syed Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara, whose three horses returned victorious to present him a splendid treble. Trainer Mohyuddin also shared the treble with the owner.

Rider Waseem galloped favourite five-year-old chestnut mare Gumnam from Pir Pagara’s stables to three-and-a-half lengths victory over filly Fly Free to land the opener so did filly Simple Lady, who edged bay horse Janisar by distance in the next.

Filly Loyal Lady completed the feat when she gets past dark bay horse Arkadian by two lengths to make it two on trot in the fourth. Both Simple Lady and Loyal Lady were ridden by Pervaiz Ali for a double.

Seasoned rider Mohammad Essa guided fancied filly First Night to four lengths victory over filly Hello Cuttie in the third race to stretch her winning run.

Fast chasing four-year-old colt Cash The Cheque beat front running colt Touching Star by neck in a closely fought race to claim the day’s last race which was also feature event.

Running on the heels of Touching Star, Cash The Cheque made amends of its previous loss when it overcomes by neck at the winning post. National Queen was placed third beaten by half-a-length while Gold City completed the board among four runners further beaten by three lengths.

Meanwhile, the next Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Saturday.
