KARACHI: Yasir Khan, Zuhair Raza and Talha Zubair Surmawala won their respective quarter-finals here on Monday to confirm their place in the semifinals of men’s singles event at the NBP Open Tennis Championship at the DA Creek Club.

Yasir overpowered Fahad Khan 7-5, 6-5 triumph to make the semi-finals.

Zuhair also recorded a straight-set victory by beating Mohammad Kaleem 7-5, 6-1.

However, Talha found tough resistance from his quarter-final opponent Sahibzada Mohammad Ali and dropped a set before registering a 7-5, 1-6, 10-8 win.

Sahibzada displayed better in his proper age category event on the day, winning the second-round encounter of U-17 singles event against Mazhar Hayat by recording a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Second round: Yasir bt Kumail Ali 6-0, 6-1.

Quarter-finals: Yasir Khan bt Fahad Khan 7-5, 6-5; Zuhair Raza bt Mohammad Kaleem 7-5, 6-1; Talha Zubair Surmawala bt Sahibzada Mohammad Ali 7-5, 1-6, 10-8.

U-13 (second round): Rayyan Jawwad bt Omer Shafi Saleh 6-2, 6-3; Mohammad Hamza w/o Rida Khan.

U-11 (first round): Yameen bt Sana Jamal 8-0; Shehrzada bt Kirtan Mukesh 8-3; Anesh Talrija w/o Mohammad Yameen; Omer Shafi bt Sabih Ahmed 8-0.

U-17 (second round): Sahibzada Mohammad Ali bt Mazhar Hayat 6-1, 6-2; Mohammad Raza Sawani bt Mohammad Zeehshan 6-0, 6-0.
