Inefficiency of LEA,they are corrupt,cause they work under corrupt rulers.They take action only when ordered & that too in accordance with the party in power.Never read instructions from IG Police or DG Rangers to their men to take immediate action on such incidents,kill or maim the culprits so that all types of killing ceases when killers become aware of their fate.

This is inhuman, barbarian and madness. This government is inept have no intention to protect its citizens. They must resign. We must condemn Qaim Ali and cabinet for their inability.

In Punjab there were certain killings last year but there the authorities have managed to not only arrest the people involved but control it. The government is useless but our people don't stand up to extremism either. This is probably related to the shia-sunni issue and its pathetic that the best and brightest shias have been targeted over the years and the people killing them are coming from mosques. Im not shia but almost every shia person I know has lost at least one family member just because they were shia. Loss of an educator with this brutality is shameful for all pakistanis.

In a nation at the bottom of scale on literacy, scholars like Dr Auj get eliminated just like that. Conferences participated by federal / provincial governments / all political parties and all agencies are held expressing commitment to support the operation clean up. A lot of criminals are arrested, killed or sent to jail - yet the carnage continues unabated. Does the federal government has other priorities, is the provincial government inept, are the political parties defending their turfs or the police and agencies lack resolve to address the issue - no one knows - nation is left in a horrific state only witnessing innocent killings one after another ...........

A highly educated person in Pakistan is difficult to find. Every single country in the world (other than Pakistan) embraces these skilled people because the know the importance of education and how difficult it is to acquire these skills. As it is, Pakistan has been losing its educated people for the last 40 years and anyone who has any qualifications (and even those who do not), can't wait to leave Pakistan to go and serve some other country, either for financial reasons or reasons such as security, health or education for their own children. I am not sure who is responsible for killing this man but they must be the scum of the earth and sadly, we have too many of those in Pakistan.

Only one of the few progressive scholars of Pakistan, Dr. Shakeel was humble, decent and a great friend. Being a Khateeb a Hafiz Quran he possessed a great experience of remaining with a madrassa, mosque and then a renowned university. I pray for the family. A great friend indeed who can never be forgotten.

see, you are not dealing with dumb people here, they are picking their targets very well. sure you cant safeguard everyone but you have to ban double riders on bike for at least a year, why is someone not paying attention to this? while on this subject, make sure the tints on cars are no more than 70% at any given time.

I would rather ask another dean of Arts Faculty, who has recently published a book about how to improve secularism in Pakistan. But unfortunately roots of fundamentalism within KU are deeper, and surpsrisngly the institute which had to teach the tolernace, is not acting acordingly. Ishrat-ul-Ibad, how many such reports you have collected from the concerned quarters and how many of them have been brought to justice? the killing of scholars in Pakistan.It is a death sentence,for the whole nation..What is the assembly doing,what is the government doing,what is the polce doing.

Its simple murder orchestrated by the madarssa that issued fatwa to kill him. Why law not moves against such nasty people?

If the authorities know some idiot had made Fatwa to kill, why don't they arrest that crazy, idiot, stupid molvi and hold him responsible. We need to hold these people reasonable for these crimes as if they committed them.

So some decent, intelligent educated person have fatwa on its head killed so what, we kick out politician from plane. Or people gather around this Islamic institution and protest. Our hate is only for politician and democracy not for right or wrong.

Why could not police investigate the madrassa that issued the fatwa, close the school and pinpoint the culprits invoved in issuing the fatwa that endanger the life of a citizen should be considered antistate and criminal.. Only stern actions by police and other authorities will help law and order situation in Karachi.

How many human beings that are more decent will fall victim of barbaric 'fatwas' before these inhumane laws are repealed? Blasphemy laws are fundamentally flawed and there wide spread misuse has given rise to religious fanaticism & moral bigotry.

Well first of all the mualana who gave fatwa as liable to killed; he himself should recite Qur'an again and understand it properly. Secondly I have seen people who does good things for people of Pakistan they either killed and exile them or insult them public which our yellow and blue media create big issue on world. We as Pakistani should take stand again this mualana and people who doing wrong.

Wonder if any meaningful action against the madressah that announced fatwah for killing the professor can be taken with a view to discourage such happenings in future?

Will anything be done about the medressah and its incitement of violence? They should all be held liable for aiding and abetting first degree murder and brought under full weight of the law. But as has become the second nature of Pakistanis, nothing will done except a little lip service. Mullah and hateful minds rule and apathy and indifference are complicit.

At least some people from cities got that pakistan is not a social country. This is jus one case we faced hundrad every day here in kpk.

As long as we support extremists like Taliban, this is bound to happen. The establishment which created and continues to finance these extremists need to be controlled first. Only then we can return back to semblance of a nation. Otherwise Pakistan is bound to fail.

Let's stop talking like mindless people. We all know very well that such fatwa-inspired killings will not stop, and can not stop as long as the madrassas exist in Pakistan. Pakistan MUST become secular as per Jinnah's vision to survive. We can begin be repealing the Second Amendment against Ahmadis.
