ISLAMABAD: The Wafaqul Madaris has vowed to resist any conspiracy against seminaries.

A statement issued after an emergency meeting of the Wafaqul Madaris held in Multan on Sunday said that members of the constitutional committee of the organisation criticised Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri for reportedly having said in an interview with a foreign newspaper that he was proud to have received education in a missionary school and he would convert Madaris into secular institutions.

“Some elements have been trying to stop the education of Quran and Hadith in the country. They will never succeed.”

The meeting condemns the killing of religious scholars in Karachi and says the government will be held responsible if such killings continue

The meeting condemned the target killing of religious scholars in Karachi and said that the government would be held responsible if such killings continued.

It urged the participants of sit-ins in Islamabad to call off their protest in the best interest of the country and for the sake of the people affected by rains and floods.

Wafaqul Madaris General Secretary Maulana Mohammad Hanif Jalandhari demanded immediate arrest of assassins of Maulana Masood Baig of Jamia Binoria, who was shot dead in Karachi a few days ago.

Maulana Jalandhari said the rulers had ignored the people affected by floods and were visiting different areas for photo sessions.

Wafaq leaders, Dr Maulana Saifur Rehman (Sindh), Maulana Qari Meher Ali (Balochistan), Maulana Mehmoodul Hasan Ashraf (Azad Kashmir) and Maulana Hussain Ahmed (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) attended the meeting.
