KASUR: Police on Sunday claimed to have busted an inter-district gang of robbers and arrested its 11 members, including the ring leader.

The gang robbed people posing as policemen by using official uniform and vehicles. Police also claimed to have recovered booty worth Rs4.5 million. The gang was wanted by Kasur, Lahore, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal police in over 100 cases of robberies and dacoities.

DPO Jawad Qamar told the media that in view of the rise in crimes on Multan Road, he had constituted a team headed by SP (Investigation) Syed Nadeem Abbas that located the Ali Raza Odh gang and seized Rs2 million in cash, two mini vans, a car, blue revolving lights, green number plates, police uniforms and scores of mobile phones.

The DPO said the gang was wanted in more than 100 cases of highway robberies and dacoities.

Five robbers in police uniform had been gunned down on Saturday in an alleged encounter during a dacoity. Police seized a car with blue revolving lights and green number plate.
