KARACHI: A health practitioner was shot dead in an attack apparently on sectarian grounds in New Karachi, police said on Sunday.

They added that homoeopathic doctor Khalid Hasan, 55, was sitting at his clinic in New Karachi’s Sector-5-E late on Saturday night when gunmen on a motorcycle emerged there, fired shots and escaped. The bullets hit him and a patient, Mohammed Ismail, 25. They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where Dr Hasan was pronounced dead.

Ismail’s condition was stated to be out of danger.
