KARACHI: Rangers personnel arrested five suspects, including a member of a banned militant outfit, during an operation in different parts of Karachi on Thursday

Speaking to Dawn, Pakistan Rangers Sindh spokesman Major Sibtain said that the operation was conducted in the areas of Sharafi Goth, Zaman Town and Karnal Basti.

A member of a banned militant outfit — who was allegedly involved in sectarian killings — was also among the arrested suspects, the spokesman said.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the suspects' possession.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism.

Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.
