ISLAMABAD: Majority of injured people, who were admitted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) after getting injured during the clashes between police and the participants of sit-ins, have been discharged.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Operations Ismatullah Junejo, however, was still under treatment in the surgical intensive care unit on Tuesday, but the doctors were considering shifting him to a private ward because of improvement in his health.

It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) protesters moved towards PM House on August 30.

Resultantly, the police not only used tear gas but also baton charged to prevent them from entering the high security premises. The Protesters used sticks and stones in retaliation.

Because of the clash three persons lost their life, while hundreds others were injured. Pims spokesman Dr Waseem Khawaja told Dawn that as many as 315 injured people were admitted to the hospital. Majority of them have been discharged because of minor injuries.

“Till Tuesday night, only 33 injured people were left in the hospital. Out of them 21 were civilians and 12 were policemen,” he said.

He also said SSP Junejo’s health was improving and would be shifted to a private ward on Wednesday.
