KASUR: A fleeing robber was shot at and injured by some villagers near Railway level-crossing in Kull village in Kanganpur on Sunday.

Reports said that farmer Muhammad Mushtaq was intercepted by two armed robbers who snatched from him Rs2,000 cash and a mobile phone and fled. Some villagers working in the fields responded to the hue and cry raised by Mushtaq and intercepted the fleeing robbers.

One of the villagers shot at and injured a dacoit while his accomplice managed to escape on his bike. The injured robber was handed over to police. He was later admitted to the Kanganpur RHC.

Four robbers entered the house of Allah Ditta by scaling its boundary wall in Haimaykay village in Khudian late on Saturday night. As the intruders tried to wake up family members, the children and women among them, got frightened and started shouting.

The robbers got panicky, resorted to aerial firing and tried to flee. In the meantime, villagers gathered outside the house and caught one of the fleeing robbers.

The robber, identified as Khadim Hussain, was soundly thrashed before being handed over to police.
