KASUR: Instead of now demanding resignation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf should have left the assemblies immediately after the 2013 elections and demanded fresh polls, if its leader had strong evidence of rigging.

PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said this on Sunday here at a seminar organised by Majlis-i-Bulleh Shah in connection with the rebel Sufi poet’s 257th Urs.

He said PTI chief Imran Khan was not setting a good example by staging such a protest in a democratic setup.

Mr Ahsan urged promotion of Punjabi language and propagation of Bulleh Shah’s poetry that, he said had the element of universality and contained solution of problems being faced by the country.

He also said Punjabi should be introduced as medium of instruction in the educational institutions.

On the demand of former MNA Chaufhry Manzoor Ahmed, Mr Ahsan pledged to plead the case of proposed Bulleh Shah University at Kasur in the Senate.

On the occasion, various poets and scholars presented their research theses and kafis of Bulleh Shah and paid rich tributes to the poet.

Syed Samsan Ali Bukhari, Perveen Malik, Syed Anjum Shakeel Bukhari were prominent among the participants.

They lauded the poetry of Bulleh Shah and urged the masses to follow his teachings.
