VEHARI: A gang-rape victim who attempted to commit suicide by taking poison on Thursday died at THQ Hospital in Burewala on Friday.

Reports said the 18-year-old girl of Chak 146-EB was returning to her house from a nearby field when three men of the same village allegedly abducted her on Wednesday. They took her to a nearby field where they allegedly gang-raped her.

The victim girl informed her mother about the incident. On Thursday, she mixed poison in milk and fell unconscious after drinking it. She was rushed to THQ Hospital where she died on Friday.

Police handed over the body to the family after an autopsy.

ASI Abdul Jabbar said all the three suspects had been arrested and an FIR was registered against them under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

He claimed the medical report confirmed the deceased girl had been gang-raped. He said that samples of suspects had been sent to a laboratory for a DNA test.
