LARKANA: In the wake of promotion of doctors in BS-20, the Sindh government has posted 17 district health officers (DHOs) on the positions earlier held by junior doctors of BS-19, it emerged here on Thursday.

According to a notification issued on Aug 18 by the services, general administration and coordination department, some junior medical superintendents were also replaced by senior doctors of grade-20.

Talking to Dawn on Thursday, Dr Khalilullah Shaikh said he had taken over the charge of Larkana DHO while replacing Dr Abdul Fatah Bughio. Dr Abdul Wahab Wadho took over the charge as Naushahro Feroze DHO while Dr (capt ) Munir Ahmed Jokhiyo as Shikarpur DHO on Wednesday. The in-charge DHOS’ in Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot and Shikarpur had been made additional district health officers, the sources said.

The notification, which was signed by Section Officer-I Moula Bakhsh Shaikh, said new district health officers had been posted in the districts of Naushehro Feroze, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Hyderabad, Ghotki, Matiari, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Tando Allahyar, Khairpur, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Larkana, Shikarpur, Dadu and Jacobabad. These postings had been made against the existing vacancies, the notification said.
