PESHAWAR: Provincial home and tribal affairs department on Tuesday set up a complaint cell for immediate redressal of the people’s complaints, particularly about the extortion and threatening calls.

The complaint cell would also listen to the complaints against police for not registering FIR in various cases, according to a press release.

The spirit behind establishment of the complaint cell was that most of the people couldn’t lodge complaints against the influential people and miscreants demanding extortions due to fear that police would disclose their names. However, the names of the complainants would not be disclosed to anyone for security reasons, said the new release.

The complaint cell would also ensure the speedy release of the prisoners after court orders.

The secretary home and tribal affairs department Akhtar Ali Shah said that with the establishment of the complaint cell, the fear of threat to the complainant by the police and the extortionists would be eliminated. He said that complaint cells would also be established in other parts of the province.
