LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued its detailed verdict over the petition filed by a citizen against the marches announced by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and declared the demands put forward by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri were “unconstitutional”.
“We are convinced that demands raised by the chairman PTI and chairman PAT as mentioned in paragraph No1 herein above read with statement of learned counsel for respondent No 4 referred in para No 3 above are in violation of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973 and as such for resolving the important constitutional issue, we admit this petition for regular hearing.”
The PTI and PAT demands which the verdict has referred to in the nine-page verdict are as follows:
"(a) The Prime Minister of Pakistan should step down; (b) The Parliament of Pakistan be dissolved; (c) Election Commission be re-constituted; and (d) Interim government of technocrats be formed and election be held.
And in case the above said demands are not accepted, they will continue with their Dharna (sit-in) in Islamabad D-Chowk and they will choke the entire system unless their demands are accepted."
The court observed that leaders and activists of PTI and PAT could face legal action in case the constitution was violated.

PTI has choosen a wrong path. Instead if they had held local body elections in KPK and deployed electronic voting machines, it could be a great achievement and then they could agitate if the same method is not used countrywide in next elections....

With due respect to the honorable Court I must say that it should keep itself away from Political indifference, and should not indulge in such cases where it has to issue ambiguous & double meaning Judgement. They must strictly adhere to fundamental rights provided by the Constitution of Pakistan to its people & abide by the given Code of Conduct. Above order can be challenged for review.Demanding some thing and settling the matter on lesser grounds is a Political bargain which should not be hindered on an Application of a Senior Advocate who is very old & is pro Nawaz League.This application should have been thrown out by the Registrar in the first place.

Well LHC deserves respect...however, it leaves PTI, PAT and government as well in a political limbo...it clearly means that one may resort to dharna, march or whatever...and it must be within the constitutional realm...but what if people like Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri believe that the constitution is not being implemented at all either by the government or by the judiciary...

If PPP were in power, everything would be constitutional, as a matter of fact no "citizen" would have to file any petition, a so-called suo moto action would have been taken for the infotainment eposides of the so-called pious and patriot "media". It has been proven again that it doesn't matter who sits in the court, all it matters is who is in power.

Undue interference by the judiciary. if demand for a clean Pakistan free from corruption, nepotism, election rigging, suppression of poor's rights, lawlessness, target killers, kidnappers, extortionists etc is unconstitutional then what would justify constitutional. As a young kid I clearly remember being taught Field Martial Mohammed Ayoub Khan's "Basic Democracy - for the people & by the people" Gone are those days.

There is no such system which is free of blemishes even in the civilized world, but what is in civilized world is respect of laws.
In a civilized world, runner up do show sportsman spirit. I am surprised to see the behavior of IK whose has been sportsman but without spirit, and so his followers.

This is a sensible judgement. It is certainly unconstitutional for any political party to force an elected prime minister to resign through street power. There is a constitutional procedure to remove the prime minster and Imran Khan as a member of the parliament should follow it. But the result is obvious.

Mobs do not follow or require any constitution.See what has mobs caused in Egypt Libya and Syria .Any demand can be made by mobs they do not come to follow constitution.That was what revolutions did in history like killing of kings and queens and slaughtering corrupt people. This revolution is quite different as it is carried by rich and corrupt unable to grab power in elections versus similar class people who were able to get power.Common man is just the sufferer.This is not a grass root masses movement against the elite or any sort of revolution.

when same court says remove containers as it not legal , every one including IK praised , hours alter when decision went against the court is not good ...
PTI workers specially youth are too emotional and often defy logic ...
why you don't question IK for his claims...

with every passing day the impression is becoming strong the Sharifs repeated stints in Punjab has politicised courts and law enforcement agencies to extent that courts are deemed as kangaroo courts issuing political verdicts.
