QUETTA: Six women were injured in an acid attack in Balochistan's Pishin district, a senior administration officer said.

Deputy Commissioner Pishin Bashir Bazai told Dawn that six women were injured in the attack as a result of a family dispute in Tang area of the district.

"Four men sprayed acid on women inside the house," he said.

Fortunately, the faces of the women were saved but their feet were injured in the attack, he added.

"There were no men inside the house when the culprits’ relatives targeted women," Bazai said.

The attackers escaped unhurt after launching the attack.

The injured women were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

Bazai said that the women were discharged from hospital after being given first aid treatment since their condition was not serious.

Levies personnel conducted raids in different parts of Pishin and Killa Abdullah but no arrest was made till the filing of this report.

This incident comes a week after two acid attacks in Quetta and Mastung cities.

Six women were injured in the aforesaid attacks.

Police suspected militants to be behind those attacks.

However, the Deputy Commissioner Pishin termed the recent acid attack as result of an old enmity, dispelling the impression about fanaticism and terrorism.
